This month we are delighted to be profiling our client, independent jewellers, Green + Benz. The company took up our Watertight fixed fee plan in July 2015 and have been really pleased with the work we have done. As part of the package we reviewed and redrafted their contracts of employment and staff handbook, ensuring legal compliance. Our team has been on hand to guide them through a number of HR issues relating to the opening of their new store in Chesterfield, and some changes they wanted to make to strengthen the business.
Owner, Helen Dimmick commented, “We have been exceptionally pleased with the service from Bhayani Law – the team have really taken the time to understand the challenges of an independently owned business, the customer focused values of the industry, but moreover, how we work and the high ethical stance we are striving to achieve. On each occasion they work closely with us to find tailored solutions and provide all necessary backing documentation. What impresses me most is the ready availability of a qualified HR solicitor who not only fully understands all our HR requirements, but expertly guides us to commercially savvy and equitable solutions”.
New Chesterfield Store
We were kindly invited to the opening of a new store in Chesterfield with a glittering after-hours event.
Owner Helen Dimmick, one of the world’s most highly-qualified diamond graders, described the store on South Street as the culmination of her life’s work. Helen managed Tiffany’s London store for five years after starting her career with the auction house that is now Bonham’s. She took over the Green + Benz brand, which has a sister shop in Sheffield city centre, in a management buy-out in 2012. Under her steerage, the company has won numerous accolades and is currently shortlisted for Retailer of the Year 2016 and Best Store Environment 2016 in the UK Jewellery Awards and its move to larger premises in Chesterfield sees its stock of world-renowned brands expand.
During the evening Helen, a Fellow of the Gemmological Association, gave an illuminating talk why diamonds should be chosen according to colour and cut, rather than size and value. “Nature creates diamonds in a wide spectrum of shades, not just pure white, and each complement different skintones, eye and hair colouring,” said Helen. “My most precious asset, my staff, are expert at matching people to the stone that is perfect for them.”
My personal Green + Benz experience!
As some of you know, the lovely Alex Barlow proposed to me on Christmas Day. He presented me with the perfect ring. It was the right style, colour and fit. Now I know Alex knows his onions when it comes to beer…but I was hugely impressed indeed with his choice of ring. It was only at the launch of the new store when I learned that he had in fact purchased my ring from Green + Benz, and had no other than Helen herself to help him! It really does make a difference. I didn’t know that my colouring would lend itself better to a white diamond or that the cut and style was chosen with me specifically in mind.
Well done Alex (and Helen)!
