All individuals enter into contracts on a more or less daily basis when they hand over money and receive a service or goods in return. The way the contract is formed can vary from simple verbal, one-off transactions, to agreements reached through a chain of emails, to complex contracts in multi-page documents.
From time to time things can go wrong. If goods or services are not as they ought to have been under the terms of the contract, and you are unable to resolve this to your satisfaction, you may have a claim for breach of contract. For individuals, breach of contract claims are commonly disputes with a business that has provided them with goods and/or services, or another individual with whom they have entered into an agreement of some sort. There may be a dispute about the nature of the goods or service that was supplied, the timing of what was supplied, or the quality of what was supplied. There may be a dispute about the contract terms themselves, whose terms apply, or what each party agreed to do. The defaulting party may accept they are in breach, but the parties can’t agree how that should be resolved. Sometimes there are more complicated relationships with multiple sub-contractors involved.

If there is a written contract we will consider what that document means and whether the parties are bound by that particular contract. It there is no single contract document the contract was formed by way of a series of emails, we will explore the actual terms that were agreed over the correspondence. and what it appears the parties intended. If it was a verbal agreement we will have to explore with you what was actually said, and who by, and what you understood to have been agreed.
