If you are uncertain about how Zero-Hours contracts work then fear not, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has published a new guide especially for employers on Zero-Hour Contracts. It outlines how the contracts work and differ to normal contracts, the circumstances in which the arrangements should be used and lastly provides advice on implementing them correctly presenting alternatives that are available if you feel they are not something you would like to enforce.
If you are interested the guide can be found here. If you can recall we previously wrote about the impact the Small Business Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 had on zero-hours contracts through the introduction of s.153 of the act which officially bans exclusivity clauses. The information on this ban can be found here.
