Our Leicester office has appointed a new employment law specialist to help address a surge in HR and litigation requests.
Bhayani HR and Employment Law has welcomed Nikita Shergill, 27, who brings five years of specialist employment law experience to the Belgrave Gate practice.
We have been experiencing a high number of enquiries from employees and requests for assistance from employers due to the national labour shortage and employees seeking a better work-life balance post-pandemic.
Nikita decided to specialise in employment law when her father’s employer made her father redundant on the first day of university.
She said: “At the time, I couldn’t help him because I had no experience.
Seeing first-hand the distress people go through when their working life is threatened made me want to work in the area.
I enjoy helping employees nurture their relationships and protecting the vulnerable when things go wrong.”
Nikita has dealt with settlement agreements, discrimination, disciplinary grievances, redundancy and recruitment for employers and employees across the sectors.
Leicester-born and raised, Nikita graduated in law from De Montfort University in 2015 and qualified as a solicitor in 2021.
A Sikh with a Punjabi heritage, Nikita was awarded a £10,000 scholarship from her university to fund her legal practice qualification after stating her desire to use her law degree to help under-represented people of ethnic minorities.
Award-winning lawyer Jay Bhayani, who grew up in Leicester, launched Bhayani HR & Employment Law in Sheffield in 2014.
Jay opened a branch in the city of Leicester in 2020.
